After talking my project through with Dave today (always do on a Monday and Tuesday, for feed back, find this very important.) I made a shopping list of what I needed to buy, find and organise, all the products I have decided on and the materials to make the models of them. This included muscle shells and invisible thread for hanging the pieces, for example.
I have also done basic diary, notebook and sketchbook work after London. Dave described the objects I was making in my project as 'Garden Peas' in a super market in clear wrap,(was using peas as a product anyway, so perfect example). They just say simply what they are, obvious. But they don't have 'instructions/recipes' on, it is up to you to decide this and research this. My project (the second aspect other than the 'Opening' aspect, as explained earlier) however is about incorporating this 'instruction' in the product itself. Making knitted garden peas and writing all over them the instructions of how to make them, will this make people more interested to experiment, or less? Will it make instructions more appealing? Easier to use?
This links to, 'Openings' as explained, is about new opportunities, learning! To learn you have to follow instruction in some way even if it is simply 'be adventurous' or a memory of an instruction. I want to show visually that you subconsciously follow instruction everyday; 'Pull', 'Push' on doors. As well as exploring how, once you have been told what to do or what to think, you will subconsciously let this effect the way you think.
I think this 'Instruction' idea is what my project is actually about as it incorporates the idea of showing ideas, processes and openings.
Feel happier with where my project is going today.
